There are a range of options available when it comes to using essential oils in your home. One popular method is using a diffuser. An essential oil diffuser is a safe and easy way to disperse essential oils throughout the room,  allowing you to reap the benefits of aromatherapy and enhance your wellbeing.

Inhalation is the quickest and simplest method of using essential oils. You can inhale essential oils straight from the bottle or add a few drops to a diffuser or vaporiser. In addition to creating a refreshing and purifying aroma in your home or office space, the essential oils molecules will have a positive impact on your mood and health.

Choosing a diffuser for the first time can be hard decision. There are multiple options ranging from ultrasonic mist diffusers, vaporisers, portable diffusers as well as being all different sizes and shapes.

To make it easier, we’ve provided you with all the information you need to know about each kind of diffuser, their benefits and how to use them.

Ultrasonic Mist Diffusers

Ultrasonic mist diffusers are by far the most popular and easiest way to use essential oils. Mist Diffusers use heat and water to release a fine mist of essential oils into the air, which also makes them great humidifiers. They often have various lighting options and can act as a sophisticated style piece in the home. They use only a few drops of essential oils and can run for a long period of time. They are also the best diffuser for large spaces as the mist disperses widely into the air. All essential oils are suitable to use in mist diffusers. Simple to use, all you need to do fill the tank with distilled water and add 6-8 drops of essential oils. Most mist diffusers offer the option of either continuous or intermittent mist, depending on your needs. We offer a variety of ultrasonic mist diffusers to suit your home style and needs.

Vaporizers

Vaporizers operate by heating essential oils to the optimal temperature until they turn into vapour. There are two different types of vaporisers: tea light and electric. Tea light vaporisers work by a small amount of water and essential oils until it vaporises. However, the heat is said to alter the chemical composition of the essential oils and thus, their beneficial qualities. Electric vaporisers work differently. No water is required, and the dish is heated to a stable optimal temperature without altering the composition of the essential oils. Electric vaporisers work continuously until turned off. They require a small amount of oil only. The aroma produced is strong, but won’t disperse as widely into space as would a mist diffuser. It is great for smaller spaces. To use, simply add 2-3 drops of essential oils to the top of the dish and turn the power on.

Portable Diffusers

Portable diffusers have recently taken the world by storm with their practicality and highly sought after ‘on-the-go’ benefits. If you are an aromatherapy enthusiast, then you will love these portable devices as they allow you to diffuse essential oils anywhere at anytime. Portable diffusers use the same technology as mist diffusers, whereby water is heated and a fine cool mist containing essential oils molecules is produced. Portable diffusers are USB rechargeable, making it easy to use on-the-go. They are perfect for travelling, in the car, in the office or for daily activities. We love them. To use, simply fill the tank with water and 2 drops of essential oils.

Nebulizer

Nebulizers are quite new in the world of essential oils. Unlike most diffusers, they do not use heat or water. They work by atomizing the essential oils into fine particles. They are the most powerful way to diffuse essential oil and the method that preserves the quality of the oils the best. Nebulizers use a larger amount of essential oil for a shorter running time. However, the concentration of essential oils released into the air is much stronger. They are great for large spaces and will have instant benefits. One important aspect to consider with nebulizers is that they cannot use viscous oils originating from roots and trees. Those who wish to use some of those oils need to first dilute them with other essential oils, requiring advanced knowledge of aromatherapy. To use, simply screw your bottle of essential oil to the head of the nebulizer and turn on.
