What does motherhood mean to you? How has it changed your life?
"Motherhood means absolutely everything to me.
I am the woman I am today because of becoming a mother . I am stronger, more confident and more passionate to be a better woman and be a positive role model because of my children. I have a purpose every single day when I wake up and that is the most amazing feeling."
How do you make time for your relationship? Any rituals shared together?
"Date night is very important to us. We love being able to leave the kids with grandparents and spend time one on one having proper conversations and reminding each other of why we fell in love in the first place. It’s very easy to get caught up in the daily grind and repetition of parenthood so we make it a priority to have those nights where its just us being us again."
Dreams, projects you would like to share with your family?
"This year was meant to be our year spent travelling Europe (mainly Italy) for 6+ months. Unfortunately the world had other plans but we still plan and hope to do that in the years to come.We may even do a few months around Australia instead when travel restrictions are lifted.
But for now our next very exciting project is moving to our dream location to renovate, extend and create our dream home which is something my husband and I have always wanted to do together."
What is your favourite essential oil ritual?
"I have 2. My meditation practice where I diffuse “calm & destress “ or “anxiety” blends to help with my practice and keep me grounded and also our bed time routine with our daughters where we diffuse “Lullaby” or “Peaceful” from the Little’s Range to help them fall asleep peacefully."
What does motherhood mean to you? How has it changed your life?
"Motherhood means a lot of thing to me, it means family, happiness, love, it is the biggest experience in life, we learn so much, we go through things we never experience before. It is testing, exhausting and sometimes you want to give up but, it changes our lives forever. Motherhood is a roller coaster, ups and down, goods and bads, you succeed and sometimes you fail but it makes us who we are. It made me a better person and I will be forever grateful because motherhood is not something that we all get."
How do you make time for your relationship? Any rituals shared together?
"We currently don’t because when you have a newborn your life is a bit upside down. Lucas was working a lot when Lison was born so we literally had separate lives but he slowed down a bit and we can now watch series together again in the evening."
Dreams, projects you would like to share with your family?
"We always talked about buying a big bus, creating a beautiful living space in it and travel around Australia. It could be so much fun and we would have so many beautiful memories. We will probably do it after our last kid in two or three years."
What is your favourite essential oil ritual?
"I use a lot of essential oils around the house, but I recently started using the new mum trio when breastfeeding in my bedroom and love it. I turn my diffuser on, seat on my bed and enjoy some quiet time with a relaxing atmosphere, Ambre often comes and lay down next to me if she does not start jumping on the bed."
What does motherhood mean to you? How has it changed your life?
"To me Motherhood is a nurturing love that comes from within and provides your family with a sense of protection and comfort. Motherhood is a place where they feel safe. Even if you try not to let it, Motherhood changes you in so many ways and all for the better. You see things in a different light and while you focus all your time and energy on raising your babies, it makes you happier than you have ever felt. It’s a true sense of belonging. But under all that, I’m still the same old me."
How do you make time for your relationship? Any rituals shared together?
"It’s tricky to have quality time together with a toddler running around or work slipping in the way but we try to make time each night, when Hazey has gone to bed to switch off and just chill out together. We chat about things and watch an episode of our favourite TV series…. simple but necessary. And when the world isn’t going through a pandemic, Hazey has regular sleepovers with her Grandparents so we can have a date night, it’s essential!"
Dreams, projects you would like to share with your family?
"Our dream has always been to travel and go on adventures with our kids. We thrive on adventure and we want to show them all the places we travelled together as a couple, overseas and in Australia. Second to this (our dream project) would be creating and building our forever family home and working on it together."
What is your favourite essential oil ritual?
"As a family we use essential oils everyday in many different ways but my favourite oil ritual is my diffuser. I have one at home and one in my studio. I like to diffuse a different blend depending on how I'm feeling or the mood I'm in. I also love to apply a small amount of a calming oil blend to my temples right before bed."
What does motherhood mean to you? How has it changed your life?
"I think i answer this question differently all the time to be honest, probably because my experience of growing, birthing and raising babies is always changing. Motherhood is a long continuous lesson in this life, and after three short years as a mother, I am still trying to find the right words to encapsulate it perfectly. My girlfriends and i have been talking lately about how simple and easy life was when you just had yourself to look after and upon having kids, you really let yourself become the last person you look after. For a long while you think that this is how it goes but slowly you realise that looking after yourself, through being stretched and pulled at, is the most important thing to maintain. Happy and healthy mama makes a happy healthy bubba! In terms of what has changed? Everything and nothing! We travel the globe still, and I still do most things I always did, of course much slower and with a few extra yawns and a lot less spontaneity."
Between work, travel and the kids, how do you make them for your relationship? Any rituals shared together?
"This is something so important yet something we are still working on. Because we have been raising our kids away from friends and family, we have very little time together so when we do find those rare nights off together, a typical date night looks like splurging on some very nice wine, a fancy dinner and some live music. It’s easy to forget about your relationship and leave it on autopilot as new parents. But i think its very important to make the time for each other and do the things you did when it was just the two of you, even if that’s just falling on the couch together after the kids go to sleep at the end of the day."
Dreams, projects you would like to share with you family?
"Great question! We have lots so I'll share a few. We are really passionate about introducing our kids to art and culture. We want them to learn music, we always travel with 1-2 guitars.. my partner would bring all if he had the choice, he always hires a keyboard to have in the house so the girls can play whenever they want. Music is a big way that he and the girls connect, typically he will play with or for them and we all dance and sing. My area is more art.. painting and drawing. Late last year we built a little art studio under our house so when we are home I often invite the girls to come in and get messy. We also want to live in Spain with the girls and spend some time in countries like India with them. We recently spent some time in Barcelona and I loved teaching our eldest a little Spanish, it brought us so much joy watching her interact in another language. We try to involve the kids in the work that we do, I will often take the girls to my partners work so they can see what he is working on - they love that!"
What is your favourite essential oil ritual?
"At the moment, I'm using oils when i travel and when i need a little me time. I’ll usually fly with tea tree, eucalyptus and peppermint to keep things fresh and clear as I tend to get very congested up in the air. People have been giving me the eye when i whip out my little portable diffuser on the plane. I usually pop a few drops of eucalyptus on the shower ledge and steam it up for my little ones if they are a bit blocked up. I’m also loving a few drops of calm & destress blend in the bath at the end of the day! Since transitioning to chemical free cleaning at home, I love using lemon and lemongrass scents for that super fresh and clean feel."
What does motherhood mean to you? How has it changed your life?
"Motherhood means everything to me. It has changed my life completely. But for the better of course! My life isn’t just about me anymore .. I have two young children who rely on me for nurturing, guidance and a whole lot more!"
Between work, travel and the kids, how do you make them work for your relationship? Any rituals shared together?
"I personally like routine which works well for myself and my family. We keep things simple but it provides the kids with a sense of structure they enjoy. We’re fortunate to live where we do and have a healthy lifestyle and environment, so I feel like our days are made up of lots of small daily rituals. It can be anything from making our morning smoothies together to feeding the fish at the boat harbour on the way home from school. I try to fit in a surf as often as I can, it helps keep me centred which is important as a mum!"
Dreams, projects you would like to share with your family?
"I’m quite open with my parenting style and tend to let the kids guide their learning and development so if there’s something positive they love or want to pursue I’ll embrace it!"
What is your favourite essential oil ritual?
"The ‘sleep’ and ‘calm and destress’ blends are beautiful diffusing in the evening while we are winding down, for story and night time. But also the sinus blend is a favourite of mine post-pregnancy as I’m more susceptible to sinus these days so this is a saviour."
