It's a year-round problem, but coming into the cooler months we need to try that little bit harder to protect our immune system. As the seasons change, you'll notice a lot more people sniffling, sneezing and coughing, so it's important our immune systems are working to protect us. Aromatherapy can be used to help support and reduce the burden on our immune system which is particularly useful when we are feeling run down, under a lot of stress or caring for those who are unwell.

All essential oils have antiseptic properties to some degree and many essential oils are especially good at preventing the spread of harmful bacteria, fungus and viruses. Some essential oils can help to stimulate the immune system by increasing blood and lymph circulation and generally supporting the different body systems.

Essential oils can be:

  • Diffused to help purify the air and prevent the spread of air borne germs
  • Added to cleaning products, disinfectant surface sprays or the washing machine
  • Applied diluted to the skin to help support the body during illness
